Embracing Simple Moments This Holiday Season

Here we are in mid December. All the holiday hustle and bustle in full swing. How are y’all doing? I am doing my best to continue the promise I made to myself. Soaking in what this season is, enjoying the magic and wonder of it all.

Now that my kids are older, my perfect is different. My reality is different. My joy is having all of us in a room together, watching a Christmas movie. The magic is in those moments together, they are the simple moments. They are what my heart truly needs this season.

I have let go of some of my usual decorating. Decorating anything for any season/reason is part of who I am. I didn’t let it go purposely, it just hasn’t happened. And crazy enough it is not bothering me that some of it has not been done.

Most, if not all of my shopping has been done online this year. I have had little to no desire to go out the stores. My priorities are shifting and I have naturally been leaning into that shift. The countdown is in full swing. I hope I can continue leaning into what feels peaceful and joyful.

There is no right way to do this season, there is no perfect. What you and your sweet ones will remember are the feelings and experiences you had together. Make this week a week of soaking in the small, simple moments.

    Goal Chasing-Savor the Journey

“Chasing your goal is important but don’t forget to savor the journey along the way. Every step, every lesson. and every moment matters just as much as the finish line. Stay focused, stay present and enjoy the ride!” -Gael Monfils

THIS. This is so good!! Gael Monfils is one of my favorite tennis players on the APT tour. He is electric on the court. You want to watch him, seriously look him up if you haven’t seen him play. You won’t be disappointed.

We can become so focused on achieving the goal. We completely miss the day-to-day journey. Staying present within the daily grind is my rough spot. My mind seems to look forward more often than I would like.

This is such a wonderful reminder. Staying present and soaking up the gift of the journey is something I don’t want to miss out on. Life is too short to miss those moments. They help build up to that next version, they are the stepping stones to getting to that finish line.

That last little line-ENJOY THE RIDE! OMG, so much truth to that! Have freaking fun while you are goal chasing! Because again, life is too short not to! I will admit there have been moments in my life. During my goal chasing, I have watched my goal working around me. I have given myself moments to sit in the joy of it. I take a moment to smile and think, “I can’t believe I am doing this.” I can hear myself say, “I love this, so incredibly much.” How often do any of us truly do that? It has been a while since I have.

Set those goals and savor the journey to achieving them. Your story does not lie in the achievement. It is within the day-to-day determination to get there.
